Start with a print (Bring a photograph, size 8x10, matte finish) of your favorite picture to use as a canvas. Add your creativity/imagination with paint brush onto this unique canvas to create a work of art. This will allow you to combine your passion for photography with a painting technique to create a multimedia work of art.

Sarah Sheffield is hosting the works of Paulette Wright in her Wilmington gallery through April 17 in an exhibit of oil paintings entitled, Driven to Abstraction.

Sarah Sheffield sold two oil paintings at Wilmington's February Fourth Friday. They are Beatings the Blues and Cut ups. She also has a painting hanging at the Wilmington International Airport juried exhibit, entitled Passages - Jenkin's Barber Shop on Redcross and 5th Street. Her oil painting, Lucky Lures was accepted to the upcoming FALC Annual Juried Show.
Sarah also sold a painting from her gallery entitled, My Little White Chair and two paintings on exhibit at Bellamy Mansion Museum (Wilmington, NC), Dawn in the District and Sundown in the District, and two more pieces juried into the Wilmington Arts Association Azalea Festival Show at the Hannah Block Arts Center (Wilmington, NC), Backboard and Belfry and Blowing in from Brunswick.

The paintings sold were Giverney Afternoon and After the Rain -- picture of North Carolina mountains with clouds and mist.
Ed Hudson sold three paintings.
The oil paintings sold at Searstone on November 28. They were: Serenity at Sunset, Grazing in Hawaii, and No Bull. The buyers were a couple from Alaska.
Meera Goyal sold four paintings.
The paintings were watercolors also sold at Searstone. They included: Fishy Secret, Girl with an Umbrella, The Violinist and Garden of Joy.
Paul Lewis sold two paintings.
Both were sold at the November 13, Sister Cities Association of Cary auction, held at the Mayton Inn. Farmers’ Market and Happy Hour. Thirty percent of the proceeds went to Sister Cities. Both paintings were done in acrylic.
Joyce McKee sold a painting.
Three paintings were sold from the current show at Cary Hot Yoga.
Christer Berg won aprize at the 2016 NC State Fair
Christer won First Premium in the Professional Photography category at the 2016 NC State Fair. The photograph is called The Knockout Punch. It was his fourth award at the State Fair in the past three years.
Sarah Sheffield named Cary Lazy Daze poster artist
Sarah Sheffield was chosen as the Lazy Daze poster artist for the 40th Annual Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival. Her painting Ringing in Lazy Daze was unveiled at Spring Daze in April and will be used for tee shirts and posters.

Bruce Tarkington - Solo show at the Bond Park Community Center
Bruce Tarkington has a solo exhibit scheduled for the Town of Cary running from the first part of September through October. It will be at the Bond Park Community Center and will consist of a little over thirty 16x20 charcoal drawings of the North Carolina coast.
Lyudmila Tomova wins People's Choice Award from Western Federation of Watercolor Societies
Lyudmila Tomova won the People's Choice Award at the 41st Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies exhibition at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado. Her watercolor is entitled, Preparing for the Storm.
Ellie Edwards-Smith wins third prize at National Juried Exhibition for AAWS
Ellie Edwards-Smith has a mixed media painting, Emerging With Feather, that was accepted into the National Juried Exhibition for AAWS, Dimensions 2016, and received third prize. The exhibit is on display at the Womble Carlyle Gallery inside the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, Winston-Salem, NC, through July 26, 2016.
Kathryn Launey at the Chatham Hill Winery
Kathryn Launey has an exhibit of mixed media paintings at the Chatham Hill Winery during the month of July. The exhibit is entitled, Surf & Turf.
Don Hamilton at the Chatham Hill Winery
Don Hamilton has an exhibit of his watercolors at the Chatham Hill Winery during the month of June. There is a reception planned for Final Friday, June 24 from 6 to 9 PM.
Don has a solo exhibition at BB&T Bank, Regency Park, scheduled for July through August.
Don also sold a painting from the Cary Ballet Conservatory show. It is an abstract acrylic piece entitled, Sleeping Giant.
Open Studio Pastel Class
Kim Werfel is presenting an open studio Pastel Class. Each person should bring their own pastels and paper, and a reference photo from which to work. Attendees should have some experience with drawing/painting. The class is at the Seymour Senior Center in Chapel Hill and runs each Monday in June from 1 to 3 PM. The cost is $60 for four classes. You can pay at the desk before the first class. Come early to do so.
Diana Coidan was juried into the 2016 NC Statewide Pastel ExhibitionDiana Coidan has two pastels juried into the 2016 NC Statewide Pastel Exhibition, On Common Ground: From the Mountains to the Sea. The exhibit will be held at the Hickory Museum of Art, Hickory, NC from May 21 to August 22 with the opening reception on May 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Egret Solo and Moment of Reflection were the pieces selected for this pastel exhibit.
